Question on the soul and Waswasah

(#153)

Country: United Kingdom

Question

As Alaykum Shaykh, Shaykh this question is one that comes to me often, please could kindly answer it?

“The belief of Sunni Islam (ahl al-sunna wa’l-jama`a) is that the next life is a physical life composed of both body and soul.”

Does this mean that once the souls of all humans without exception and all jinn without exception are reunified with their bodies that their souls will never leave it again so that everything after resurrection and also when entering and remaining in either Paradise or Hell (or for the sinful believers who enter Hell and then Jannah) will all of that be with both Soul and Body (soul inside the body) of every single human (without exception) and every single jinn (without exception)

As Salaamu Alaykum, I saw someone with a red turban and had this thought of myself wearing one and then going in front of a crowd of people as a speaker on a table teaching and then starting off The talk by (in the imagination) saying to people that The Prophet ﷺ wore a read turban so they wouldn’t get doubt’s about wearing red and there wouldn’t be people doubting me.

Though then I realised that I didn’t know if The Prophet ﷺ wore a read turban and I could have thought that he did ﷺand then I searched up and after doing so I feared that I had committed kufr and so I said the Shahaadah intending to repent from kufr, I feared fabrication. I don’t know what level this thought reached but as you can see it was continuous and like a day dream thinking about doing that.

Then I may have a had thought about my thought not being held accountable for it, but I don’t know what level of thought this reached.

At any point mentioned above such as the imagination I had etc, did I commit kufr?

We have received your query dated 01/09/2022, our response is as follows:

1) The life of the hereafter such as Qiyamah, Jannat & Jahannum will be a physical life for both body and soul. The hereafter is not some dream or fantasy. There will also be a strong connection of the Ruh and body whilst in the grave. [1]Besides this, it is not necessary to know the details of the Ruh (soul), we should rather prepare ourselves for the hereafter by fulfilling all the commands of Allah Ta’ala and avoiding all sin.

2) The Sahabah Radiyallahu Anhum once complained to Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam regarding thoughts and Waswasahs.

Translation: It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (RadiyAllahu Anhu) that he said, ‘Some companions of Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) came and asked him, “Verily we perceive in our minds such things which each one of us considers too grave to express.” He (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: “Do you really perceive it?” They said: “Yes”. (Upon this) He (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) remarked: “That is clear faith.” (Saheeh Muslim: 132)

The thought that occurred to you falls under the category of Waswasa and thus it will not be Kufr. You should ignore all such thoughts and read Ta’awwuz.

And Allah Ta’ala knows best
