We have received your query dated 20/10/21, our response is as follows:
Speaking and communicating with ‘someone’ albeit an envisaged spouse or marriage partner being a total stranger unto one over the telephone is strictly not permitted and prohibited in Shariah. If one wishes to find anything out about the prospective bride, the correct procedure is to inquire about her ways and habits through one’s reliable Mahram woman of the family in whom one may concur. [1]
The above is regardless of whether the parents will be on the call or not.
