Question
As-salamu alaikum, I have been having weird occurrences at night, wherein oftentimes when I sleep I wake up in the middle of the night and, while I’m half asleep, start watching pornography on my phone or laptop while masturbating. I don’t know why this happens to me and I’m wondering if this is due to magic or something similar? Jazakum Allah khair

We have received your query dated 23/07/2022, our response is as follows:
For a person to be affected by Sihr and Jinn is possible. However, we cannot say for certain if you are effected by Sihr or Jinn. [1]
We advise that you should perform your Salaah with Jamaat and recite Ayatul Kursi, Surah Ikhlaas, Surah Falaq and Surah Naas before retiring to bed (thrice) and blow on yourself. Sleep in the state of Wudu and do not use your phone and laptop before sleeping, rather recite the Masnoon Surahs such as Surah Mulk and Surah Waaqi’ah. The recitation of the aforementioned Surahs will definitely protect one, the Surahs should be read with conviction and punctuality.
Furthermore, ensure that you place your phone and laptop in another room.
One should also sincerely repent to Allah Ta’ala and beg from Allah Ta’ala that one is saved from the filth of pornography and the evil of masturbation. Also search for a Shaikh-e-Kamil that can guide you.
You may also recite the following Aayats if you are concerned of Sihr/Magic:
1) Recite the following Aayaat of Surah Yunus seven times:
فَلَمَّا أَلْقَوْا قَالَ مُوسَى مَا جِئْتُمْ بِهِ السِّحْرُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَيُبْطِلُهُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُصْلِحُ عَمَلَ الْمُفْسِدِينَ (٨١) وَيُحِقُّ اللَّهُ الْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَاتِهِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُجْرِمُونَ (٨٢)
2) Recite the following Aayaat of Surah Qalam seven times:
وَإِنْ يَكَادُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَارِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا الذِّكْرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُ لَمَجْنُونٌ (٥١) وَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِلْعَالَمِينَ (٥٢)
3) Recite the following Dua:
اَعُوْذُ بِوَجْهِ اللهِ الْعَظِيْمِ الَّذِىْ لَيْسَ شيء اَعْظَمَ مِنْهُ وبِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّاتِ التي لاَ يُجَاوِزُهُنَّ بَرٌّ ولاَ فَاجِرٌ وبأسماء اللهِ الْحُسْنَى كُلِّهَا مَا عَلِمْتُ مِنْهَا ومَا لَمْ اَعْلَمُ مِنْ شَرِّمَا خَلَقَ وذَرَأَ وبَرَأَ
4) Recite the following Aayats and gently think that one’s Sihr is being annihilated when reciting the words: سَيُبْطِلُهُ
أَلْقُوا مَا أَنْتُمْ مُلْقُونَ (٨٠) فَلَمَّا أَلْقَوْا قَالَ مُوسَى مَا جِئْتُمْ بِهِ السِّحْرُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَيُبْطِلُهُإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُصْلِحُ عَمَلَ الْمُفْسِدِينَ (٨١
وَيُحِقُّ اللَّهُ الْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَاتِهِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُجْرِمُونَ (٨٢
5) Also recite Surah Fatihah.[2]
6) Try to recite one Para of the Noble Qur’an daily.
May Allah Ta’ala protect you and keep you steadfast on the Deen.
