Sadaqatul Fitr in New Zealand for 1443/2022 is a minimum of approximately: $4.00 NZD
Sadaqatul Fitr/Fitrana purifies the minor deficiencies that occurred whilst fasting during Ramadhan and brings happiness to all on the day of Eid. Sadaqatul Fitr can be given through different commodities. These commodities include wheat, barley, dates and raisins.
Wheat : ½ Saa (approx. 1.7kg): $4.00 (2kg)
Barley : 1 Saa (approx. 3.4kg): Approx $14.00
Dates 1 Saa (approx. 3.4kgs): Approx $ 20.00
Raisins 1 Saa (approx. 3.4kg) : Approx $44.00
One may give ones Sadaqatul Fitr to the value of any of the above commodities, the prices of the above commodities should be ascertained and Sadaqatul Fitr should be given accordingly.
2kg (due to precaution) of wheat flour comes to approximately $4.00 NZD[1]. However, affluent and wealthy individuals should try to pay the higher values. Please note that Fidyah for each fast will also be the same amount as Sadaqatul Fitr.
Notes on Sadaqatul Fitr:
- Wajib (compulsory) on adult males and females who have in their net-possession assets to the value of Nisab. (i.e. Zakatable assets + non basic assets-minus liabilities) on the day of Eid.
- The father is responsible to discharge Sadaqatul Fitr on behalf of his minor children.
- Should be given before Eid Salaah.
- Should be given to needy Muslims who are eligible to accept Zakaat. Make sure your Sadaqatul Fitr goes into the ownership of the poor and needy Muslims and not used for the building of hospitals, wells or paying wages etc.
