Asalamalaikum , can we buy products with the 0% interest deals that shops allow, example noleeming selling phone for 12 months interest free and only $50 service charge, i know i can pay it back before the 12 months with-out getting interest charged.

We have received your query dated 17/12/21,
An interest free deal offered by retail stores consists of a clause in which failure of payment by a purchaser will incur a fee, this clause will render the transaction impermissible.[1] Thus we should not be duped into regarding such a transaction as correct due to stores advertising a commodity with the words “Interest free”. There are many factors that we need to take into care in order for a transaction to be permissible, such as the one mentioned above i.e. late penalties.
Hence, we advise that you abstain from such a transaction.
