Does istihlal make one a kafir?

We have received your query dated 30/08/2022, our response is as follows:

What we understand from your question is that you are asking about whether a person leaves the fold of Islam due to believing a Haram action as Halal.

The Fuqaha (Islamic Jurists) have mentioned that it is disbelief for a person to regard a Haram- le- Aynehi action as permissible. Furthermore, they state that this is when the impermissibility is established by texts which are decisively established i.e. Qat’eeuth Thuboot and Qat’ee’ud Dalaalah.  However, even if the text is not decisively established then too one should totally avoid terming any impermissible aspect of Deen as permissible, as this is a very grave sin.[1]
