Assalamualaikum wrt. I turned 41 last month and was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer in October of 2026, since then, I’ve had 6 cycles of chemotherapy treatment which ended in February 2027. During the earlier cycles of the chemo treatment, my regular menstrual cycles continued as usual. However, towards the mid of the treatment, my period stopped. By the end of the treatment, I had missed 3 periods – I was informed prior to the chemo treatment that it would have an impact on my menstrual cycles and so it did. Post chemo treatment, when I started having very frequent episodes of hot flushes, my doctor ordered blood test to check hormonal levels; after which he confirmed indicative menopause and affirmed it seemed to be permanent, provided my age, the hormone levels and the fact that I’ve been through intense chemo in the last 5 months. I have since been put on a long-term hormone replacement therapy and completed only a month of HRT yesterday, which has significantly helped with the hot flushes. Current situation: Last week, I experienced mild to moderate spotting and period like cramps for 2 days and it stopped after that. A week later, the cramps and spotting returned, but this time a little more intense cramping and some bleeding as well – only lasted 2 days. What is the ruling of purification in my case? Is this considered menstruation or not? JazakAllah Khayran
