We have received your query regarding utilising the Itr which is applied to the shroud of the Mayyit, our response is as follows:
If your question is whether one may utilise the Itr after its application to the Mayyit, then this will be permissible. As long as one has the owner’s permission and it is not purchased with the deceased’s estate.
With regards to the ruling on applying non-alcoholic Itr to the Kafan of the deceased, then this is Mustahab (recommended). However, those fragrances that are forbidden for men to apply during their life, such as saffron, should not be utilised on the Kafan.[1]
