Which area is considered as the face in Wudu?

Question

(#252)

Country: Saudi Arabia

As-Salam Allaikum, which hairs that grow on the temple of a woman need to be washed (please elaborate on the baby hair) with the face in wudu I researched and got more confused since all of the sources only talk about men’s hair. Also I have natural oil and dandruff under all my temple hair so how can I rub it from above the hair? And also do I have to remove the oil on my nose and ears before each wudu? Also with regards to wiping of the head if I miss a few areas of my head while wiping would that not count as having wiped the entire head? Jazzakum Allahu Khairan!

We have received your query regarding washing the face and Masah, our response is as follows:

  1. The area of the face to be washed in Wudu for both men and women is from the top of the forehead to the bottom of the chin and from one earlobe to the other. [1]
  2. The dandruff and oil will not affect your Wudu.[2]
  3. You do not need to concern yourself with regards to each strand of hair when making Masah of your entire head. Ignore the doubts of Shaytan whilst performing Wudu.

And Allah Ta’ala knows best
